Personal branding photography doesn’t have to feel stiff, overly posed or like you’re trying to be someone you’re not.
In fact, some of the strongest images from a personal branding shoot are often the ones that happen
off script.
At 53 North Photography, I want you to feel relaxed in front of the camera. We’ll create the planned shots, of course, but I also like to leave room for the unexpected moments — the laugh between shots, the thoughtful look, the movement, the interaction and those little expressions that genuinely feel like you.
Forget the perfect pose
The problem with overly directed photography is that it can sometimes remove the personality from the person.
Your personal brand should be about
you, not a carefully constructed version of you.
That doesn’t mean we simply turn up and start taking pictures. We’ll talk about what you do, who you want to connect with and how you want your brand to be perceived. We’ll have a plan and a visual direction, but we won’t be afraid to step away from it.
Because that's often where the interesting stuff happens.
The ‘off script’ images
Some of my favourite images from a shoot are the ones that weren't really planned.
You might be talking, laughing, adjusting something, looking away from the camera or simply concentrating on what you're doing. These moments can reveal far more personality than a perfectly posed headshot ever could.
They make your images feel natural and relatable.
And that's important because people don't necessarily connect with a polished photograph —
they connect with the person in it.
Relaxed photographs feel more like you
If you're nervous about having your photograph taken, you're certainly not alone. Most people aren't professional models, and you don't need to be.
My job is to create an environment where you can relax, forget about the camera and concentrate on being yourself.
We'll work together, try different ideas and give you plenty of direction when you need it. And when something natural happens, we'll capture it.
The result is a collection of images that gives you more than a standard headshot. You get photographs that show
who you are, what you do and a little bit of the personality behind your business.
